Yesterday, the Senate seemed to be extraordinarily close to passing new protections for “Dreamers” (those eligible or currently under Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, also known as DACA). Yet, President Donald Trump had threatened to veto the bill partly because it did not include limits on family-based visas and the removal of the diversity lottery.
This bi-partisan bill had been seen as the best chance at protecting the “Dreamers” due to the $25 billion in border security exchange democrats made on behalf of the young immigrants.
