Visa Waiver Program (VWP) and ESTA

This program allows citizens of 38 countries to travel to the U.S. for business or tourism without a visa for up to 90 days. U.S. citizens and nationals can travel to the same countries without a visa for 90 days for business or tourism as well.

Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA)

In order be approved for the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) you would submit requested biographical information to an automated system called ESTA.

NOTES:

  • Even if you have already been approved for the VWP, when you arrive in the country Customs and Border Protection will determine whether you are eligible to be admitted before you can officially enter the U.S.
  • If you have a criminal record, prior deportations or other records that make you ineligible for the VWP, ask to apply for a waiver.
